Workbook 1:Learning outcomes: Be able to describe dementia Understand the different symptoms of dementia Gain awareness of person centred approaches Understand changes that can happen through the dementia journey Be able to consider the affect dementia has on a person’s feelings and emotions Know that there are different types of dementia Understand the differences between dementia, depression and delirium

Workbook 2:Learning outcomes Know how the brain is affected when a person has dementia and be able link this to the difficulties the person may experience Gain awareness of how physical health is important to a person with dementia Understand about how person centred care and positive communication can improve well being for people with dementia. Identify different legislation which effects people with dementia Gain knowledge about the different medications available for people with dementia Understand how diverse the experience of dementia can be Understand the importance of working with family and friends of people with dementia

Workbook 2 content: 1.Further knowledge about the causes of dementia including information about the brain 2.Common difficulties 3.General health and wellbeing 4.Further knowledge about Person Centred Care 5.Positive and effective communication 6.Equality and diversity 7.Life history work 8.Behaviours that challenge us. 9.Medication for people with dementia 10.Safeguarding issues including abuse and neglect 11.Legislation: Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty, Equalities Act. 12.Supporting and working with families and friends of people with dementia.
