Factors of Salvation Title Page: Factors of Salvation…

Defining Our Terms Factor: “One who acts, or transacts, business for another; an agent.” Salvation: “To be rescued; to be in the state of preservation from all harm; deliverance from the bondage of sin. Equivalent to sanctification.” Defining our terms. Definition of “Factor” and Salvation.”

The Original Factor God Psalm 3:8 Jonah 2:9 2 Timothy 1:9 Ephesians 1:13,14 Gen.3:15 “Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people.” (Psalm 3:8) The Original Factor: God. Psalm 3:8—salvation belongs to God. Jonah 2:9—Jonah knew that salvation comes from the Lord. 2 Tim.1:9—called according to His purpose--not our own. Eph.1:13,14—gospel of our salvation. Gen.3:15—the need for a Savior and Redeemer.

The Sacrificial Factor Christ John 1:29 1 Corinthians 15:3 Ephesians 5:2 Hebrews 10:20 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29) The Sacrificial Factor: Christ. Jno.1:29—Christ would be the true “lamb,” the “Passover for men’s sins.” 1 Cor.15:3—the Scriptures foretold His death. Eph.5:2—a sacrifice that was a sweet-smelling aroma to God. Heb.10:20—a new and living way—through the true veil, His flesh.

The Procuring Factor Blood of Christ Ephesians 1:7 Matthew 26:28 Acts 20:28 1 Peter 1:18,19 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” (Ephesians 1:7) The Procuring Factor: Blood of Christ. Eph.1:7—the blood of Christ grants men redemption and forgiveness. Matt.26:28—It was shed for the remission of sins. Acts 20:28—He purchased the church with His own blood. 1 Pet.1:18,19—We are redeemed, not by corruptible things (silver or gold), but by Christ’s precious blood.

The Revealing Factor The Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 2:10 John 16:13-15 Romans 8:14 Acts 2:2-4 “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:10) The Revealing Factor: The Holy Spirit. 1 Cor.2:10—the Holy Spirit revealed God’s mind to men. It’s the only way they can come to know it. Jno.16:13-15—The Spirit would guide these men into ALL truth. Jno.14:26—He would bring to their remembrance the things Jesus had taught them. Rom.8:14—true sons of God are led by the Holy Spirit—they follow the word. Acts 2:2-4—the Spirit gave them utterance beginning on Pentecost.

The Instrumental Factor The Bible James 1:21 John 8:32 John 17:17 Romans 1:16 Ephesians 3:5 “Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21) The Instrumental Factor: The Bible. Jam.1:21—the engrafted word can save the soul! Jno.8:32—the truth would make men free. Jno.17:17—the word can sanctify men. Rom.1:16—God’s power to save is in His word. Eph.3:5—when one reads God’s word, he can understand and obey it (Jno.7:17).

The Appropriating Factor Faith Romans 10:17 Acts 16:31 John 3:16 James 2:14-17 Hebrews 11:1,6 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) The Appropriating Factor: Faith: Rom.10:17—faith comes by hearing God’s word. Acts 16:31—Paul told the jailer it was necessary to believe in order to be saved. Jno.3:16—faith can lead to eternal life. Jam.2:14-17—faith must be mixed with works—obedient faith is active. Heb.11:1,6—without faith one cannot please God. It is the evidence of things not seen.

The Consummating Factor Obedience Hebrews 5:9 James 1:22-25 Matthew 7:21-27 John 3:36 “And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” (Hebrews 5:9) The Consummating Factor: Obedience. Heb.5:9—He is the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. Jam.1:22-25—We must be DOERs of God’s word and not just HEARERs only. Matt.7:21-27—Our faith must be evident because we are doing God’s will. To know God’s word and not follow it is plain foolishness. Jno. 3:36—Our belief in God is to be demonstrated by obedience to His commands. (1 Jno.5:2,3)

The Sustaining Factor Hope Romans 2:24,25 1 Corinthians 15:19 Colossians 1:5 Hebrews 6:18,19 Titus 1:2 “For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?” (Romans 2:24) The Sustaining Factor: Hope. Rom.2:24,25—we hope for eternal life and faithfully strive to make that hope a reality. 1 Cor.15:19—our only hope is in Christ—but not in this life only. Col.1:5—our hope is laid up for us in heaven. Heb.6:18,19—our hope is the anchor for our souls—it is steadfast and sure. Titus 1:2—we know God cannot lie.

The Authoritative Factor Christ’s Name Matthew 17:5 Matthew 28:18 Colossians 3:17 Philippians 2:9-11 Acts 4:12 “…This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matthew 17:5) The Authoritative Factor: Christ’s Name. Matt.17:5—on the Mount of Transfiguration, God’s Son was the final spokesperson! Matt.28:18—He was given all authority in heaven and on earth. Col.3:17—Whatever we do in word or deed must have His authority. Phil.2:9-11—every knee will bow, and every tongue shall confess that He is the Christ—Deity! Acts 4:12—salvation in ANY OTHER name is not possible.

Why not begin using these factors today! Factors of Salvation Why not begin using these factors today! “…In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) Conclusion and Invitation: Those who wish to be saved will have to appropriate the use of these factors in their lives. Have you used them yet? Why not begin today…Factors of Salvation…
