Objective: To review the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations by 1. answering a review question in your group to share with the class. 2. by using the key terms in a creative writing piece describing daily life. (check focus page 151)

Answers: 1.What civilizations combined to form Greek Civilizations? How did they diffuse? Minoan and Mycenaaean, they diffused through trade and war. 2.In what ways were the Minoan people able to gain control of the Mediterranean Sea? They built faster ships with a large wooden beam in the prow to smash and sink enemy ships.

3.What do experts believe about the sport of bull leaping? It was a religious ceremony and a sport. 4.Why didn’t Minoan cities have walls around them? The people depended on the sea and navy for protection. (isolated island)

5.What were some of the features of the palace at Knossos? It was 5 stories high, built of stone, framed with wood, and decorated with frescoes. It had bathrooms, several entrances and labyrinths. 6.What did the Mycenaeans build instead of cities? Citadels or fortress-palaces

7.How was the Trojan War described in the Illiad? Paris took Helen to Troy. They Mycenaeans attacked Troy; they later built a huge wooden horse with soldiers hidden in side which was pullled into Troy. They Mycenaeans burned the city. 8.Why did the people of Greece have to create a new civilization? They created a new civilization because their civilization was destroyed during the Dark Age and they diffused with the Dorians.
