Children’s Literature defined Literature focused on children’s experiences and understanding. Charlotte Huck says, “Children’s books are books that have the child’s eye at the center.” Literature written for and read by children between the ages of 1 and 16 ranging from the picture book to the young adult novel.

Brainstorm What does an elementary teacher need to know about and be able to do with children’s literature?

Coming up… On Thursday, we will discuss specific course assignments. For next Tuesday, find a copy of a picture book that you remember enjoying in your childhood.
