By looking at the causes of the First World War, decide if you think that war was inevitable in You will be making one of these diagrams, but first you need to know what the causes of WW1 were.

Your task… Title: What caused World War One? 1) Working in pairs, categorise the main reasons for the build up of tension in 1914 under these factors: The Arms race, Rising Nationalism/Empires and Alliances 2) Place the cards in chronological order (date order) 3) Divide the cards into Long term causes and short term causes 4) Using the A3 sheet, organise the cards into the order of importance.
