Introduction Enoch walked with God (Gen. 5:21-24; Heb. 11:5). So also did Noah (Gen. 6:9, 22; Heb. 11:7). Physical Israel was commanded to walk in all of God’s ways (Deut. 5:33; 8:6; 10:12; 11:22-23). Spiritual Israel is also obligated to walk in His paths (Isa. 2:2-3; Mic. 4:1-2).

Walking With God We should walk in newness of life, i.e., by being transformed according to the gospel (Rom. 6:4-5; 12:1-2). We should walk in the Spirit, i.e., in harmony with the Spirit’s teaching (Gal. 5:16-17, 22-25). We should walk in truth, i.e., in submission to the standard that is reliable and right (2 Cor. 4:1-2; 2 John 4; 3 John 3-4). We should walk by faith, i.e., in trusting obedience to the will of God (2 Cor. 4:17-5:8). We should walk in good works, i.e., in active service to God, fellow-Christians, and mankind (Eph. 2:10).

Walking With God We should walk in holiness, i.e., in sanctification and separation from sin (Eph. 4:17-24). We should walk in love, i.e., in seeking the highest good of God and others (Eph. 5:1-2). We should walk in light, i.e., according to the illumination of Sacred Scripture (Eph. 5:8-14; 1 John 1:6-7; 2:11). We should walk in wisdom, i.e., corresponding to God’s perfect plan and pattern (Eph. 5:15-17; cf. Col. 4:5-6).

Conclusion Are you walking in a manner worthy of the Lord (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 1:9-10; 1 Thess. 2:10-12)? Are you walking in obedience to His will and word (Col. 2:6-7; 1 John 2:4-6; 2 John 6)?
