Student Guidelines for a Socratic Seminar

Students need to verbally participate in Socratic Seminar by contributing a minimum of three educated comments or questions. (This is worth 30 points.)

Students must respectfully take turns speaking, and listen carefully to each other.

Students will refrain from dominating the conversation in an effort to give each student an opportunity to make at least three comments.

In order to be as persuasive as possible, students will be prepared to support all comments and questions with textual references or specific examples.

Students will be prepared, at the end of the Socratic Seminar, to complete a self/group evaluation of the process as it took place today.
