UC/LBL Partnership Goal o To provide all LBL researchers with on-line access to the same resources as UCB researchers  Represents a significant increase in many disciplines 3

Space Reduction Cubicles erected this week Wood magazine shelving will be moved shortly nearer to empty reference shelves, then reference collection will be reshelved there. New layout for Library side being finalized Compact Shelving o Now requires card key access 24hrs  We will get monthly report showing usage o Will provide self-checkout of books 9

UCB Services - Librarian o Full time Librarian  Liaison between LBL and UCB  Manage the LBL content budget $ Committed for ongoing subscriptions + $ Discretionary for new selections  Monitor usage, citations and impact factors etc.  Participate in selection/de-selection decisions as part of UCB Library, representing Lab interests  Spend at least 50% of time at LBL Providing reference assistance and advice Understanding LBL requirements o Some time spent on UCB activities offset by other UCB librarians working with LBL 16
