Famous People Edmund Quincy was an ancestor of two United States Presidents his grandson John Adams was the 2 nd president and his other grandson John Quincy was the 6 th president. He was born in Fishtoft in 1603 and went to live in America but died in 1636 aged 33. Herbert Ingram was born on the 27 th May He was famous for writing the first illustrated newspaper, he was also a politician and he was known for bringing fresh piped water into Boston Town and part of bring the railway to Boston. He died in a shipping accident on 8 th September 1816.

Important buildings The Maud Foster tower is a windmill that was built in 1819 for brothers Thomas and Isaac Rackit to grind corn. The windmill was restored in the 1880s/early 90s and its is now a museum. It is an important building as it is one of a few remaining working mills. The windmill makes flour today that you can buy in the windmill shop. Blackfriars was medieval friary. It was first built in the 13 th century, then it was destroyed in a fire. It was rebuilt to house 29 friars.Blackfriars is now an art theatre. It is a place where you can dance, do drama and music is played. Examples of shows are pantomimes and TV performances ‘ALO ALO’. It is also a place where children learn to dance and perform in a theatre.

Transport in our area in the past Boston railway was built in 1884 and for short time was a main line from London to the north.
