America’s Judeo Christian Heritage John Adams Delegate to both Continental Congress, Diplomat to Europe, Vice President to George Washington and 2 nd President of the United States of America.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage John Adams wrote: The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” ~John Adams, October 11, 1798

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage John Quincy Adams Son of John Adams, Diplomat, Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, 6 th President of the United States & U.S. House of Representatives.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage John Quincy Adams Speech on July 4 th, 1837 Why is it that, next to the birth day of the Savior of the World, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day?

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer’s mission upon the earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity,

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage John Jay: 1778 Served as President of Continental Congress, Help draft and sign the Peace Treaty with Great Britain, Author of the Federalist Papers, First Secretary of State Under Washington, Then appointed as the original Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage John Jay wrote: On October 12, 1816, he said, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers. National prosperity can neither be obtained nor preserved without the favor of Providence.”

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage George Washington Delegate to the Continental Congress, Commander and Chief of the Continental Army, Presided over the Constitutional Convention, First President of the United States of America and given the title as Father of our Nation.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage George Washington in his farewell address after two terms as President Said: Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice ?

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage George Washington’s farewell speech in 1776 for generations was printed in a separate text book used in our schools and students was tested on it. We don’t even see it much any more. Too religious for today’s secular progressive educators?

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage What is the origin of the term: Separation of Church and State?

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage In a private letter written 13 years after the Constitution in 1801 by our 3 rd President, Writer of the Declaration of Independence, founding father and much more: Thomas Jefferson

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage In a reply to the Baptist of Danbury Connecticut, who had written Jefferson, congratulating him on winning the election, they mention a concern or fear of loosing their religious freedoms, Jefferson wrote them back assuring them that while he was President that would never happen. Jefferson wrote the following:

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage In the 1 st Amendment the founders, full intention was that there be no State or National Church controlled by the government, like unto the British Empire. And that the government was to protect religious expression and freedom, privately or publicly. Not until 1947 a Supreme Court in the case of Everson vs. the Board of Education took the single phrase out of context to throw out of the public square and schools Religious expression.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage To sum it up Jefferson's letter was used to protect not prevent public religious expression until Since that ruling secularist, progressive, socialist, have used it to remove, God and the Bible from the public square.

America’s Judeo Christian Heritage With this knowledge, I believe all Christians should Vote, Be involved (even run for office) Pray for our Nation, Pray for Revival. Pray for our Government. God Bless and Happy July 4 th.
