 The Jazz Outreach of Gainesville is a program that allows youths between the ages of 12 – 18 years throughout the Gainesville region a chance to get free, weekly after-school instruction in jazz from professional jazz musicians and students in the area.

 The Gainesville area needs a program that exposes our youth to the arts.  Youth can receive a great opportunity with jazz that would not be met in the schools due to budget and program cuts

 The faculty will also consist of local musicians along with music education and jazz students attending, who are willing to volunteer their time to the youth.

 The curriculum will include all the proper tools needed to read and to speak the jazz language such as the major scales, blues scales, and etc.

 The Jazz Outreach of Gainesville Program will take place at 4:00pm-6:00pm every Thursday throughout the year with exceptions of holidays.  We will occupy ensemble and classrooms in the Music Building at the University of Florida.

 Between ages of  Own your own instrument.  Transportation to and from the University of Florida.  Willingness to learn.

 Youth learning a new art form and upholding a tradition that could be lost with recent budget cuts in the schools.  This program can be an opportunity for someone to go to college.  This program can be the starting grounds for a future star.

 At the end of each semester a concert will also held for the student to display their new found talents to their parents.  Performing different festivals, concerts, and clubs for the students to show off their talent

 The director of the program will seek funding from organizations, businesses, or corporations.  Not to mention, a monetary reward will be come in from the many festivals, performances, and fundraising.
