Wine Tasting

Tasting 1: appearance, color, aroma and palate. Tasting 2: sweetness, acidity, fruit flavors, wood, body, tannin, alcohol and overall balance.

Eight Steps to Tasting Wine Check unpleasant smells Pour a small amount of wine into the glass (about1/4) Hold the glass against a white background and look at the wine Check the appearance and color of the wine Hold the glass firmly by the stem and swirl the wine in the bowl. Place your nose close to the glass and take a good sniff Take a mouthful of wine and roll it around in your mouth Taste the wine to see if your palate confirms the analysis you have made on the nose.

Taste How sweet How dry How much acidity How much tannin A good wine is balanced with all these components.
