Owl Adventure By Jamilyn Smith

Once upon a time there was a family of owls who didn’t cooperate with each other. They said bad things to each other in their faces, disagreed with each other, bit each other, ignored each other and made faces.

Their names were Manny, Jill, Copper, Flack, Millie, Clack, Mack, Rainbow, Butterfly and Max. The leaders were Millie, Mack and Jill. The lookouts in the back of the group were Copper, Flack and Clack. The center of the group were Rainbow, Butterfly and Max.

There are ten owls in all. They ate rats, mice, deer, fish and bunnies.

When they moved to the jungle Rainbow was the greediest. The only reason she was so greedy was because she liked the sun and it was really shady in the jungle. She wanted them to move to the alpine orchard so she could get a lot of sun.

The second reason the owls had to move to the orchard was because Rainbow was going to hire a snake to make them move. The snake was going to tell them, “When you are not looking I will throw away all your stuff.” They figured out that they needed to move quickly because they didn’t want that mean old snake to throw out all of their stuff. Ring…ring.. ring Who is it ? I need you to do me a favor.

He was angry because he hated fish and it smelled like fish there. There was a lake nearby with a lot of fish. And the terrible smell came all the way to Manny’s home in the alpine orchard. So, the owls moved to the alpine orchard. Manny was very angry.

Manny was so frustrated by the smell of the fish, that he started poking the other owls with the sharp pine needles. He wanted to leave very quickly because the smell was driving him crazy. He felt he would be sick if he stayed in the orchard one more day. But… the other owls wanted to stay because….

Everything was beautiful. Their favorite food was fish (trout) and it was easy to get from lake. They could play a lot of water games in the lake. So, Manny yelled out, something which really scared them!

So, the owls moved to the mountains, because they thought everyone would be happy there. Manny said, “If you don’t move, I am going to hire a boa which is going to eat you, one by one!”

But NOW Copper wasn’t happy! He didn’t like the pointy mountains, because he was the only one who kept getting poked by them.

But, one nice sunny day, Jill came up with a plan. She told all the owls. I have an idea. We can still be friends. How about we move away where we each want to live. Once in a while we can call each other on the phone, and…..

We can have parties when ever we want to!

For my story I used information from the Owls Zoobook.
