What kinds of Peer Pressure do young people experience?

Types of peer pressure Negative peer pressure when others encourage you to: Behave badly Truant from school Smoke Drink Damage property Bully Do risky and dangerous activities such as playing ‘chicken’. Positive peer pressure is when others encourage you to: Support others (Buddies). Behave well Attend school Respect others and their property. Respect yourself and your safety Are there any others that you can think of?

Role play Sue is going to put Suzan under pressure. Is it positive or negative peer pressure? How do you think Suzan felt? How do you know what she is feeling? What do you think she should do?

You have a go. Choose one from the negative peer pressure list and and put your partner under pressure to have a go. See what it feels like. Swap roles.
