Expectations and Policies iPads at Lange Expectations and Policies

When can I use my iPad at school? Before school in the gym Between 7:30 – 2:35, I can use it ONLY when a teacher instructs me to

When / where can I NOT use my iPad? At lunch or breakfast In the hallway between classes In the bathroom or locker room Anytime a teacher has instructed me NOT to use it

When do I get to take the iPad home? Every day – but that privilege can be lost Charge your iPad at home Bring iPad to school with you EVERY day Use your iPad at home to do your homework

Charging your iPad Charging is the STUDENT’s responsibility Charge your iPad every evening – start school day with %50 power or better Charging cord and block should be kept at home Do NOT bring the cord/block to school! High-theft items. We do not recommend taking your charging cord/block with you when you are traveling away from home Designate ONE place at home as your iPad charging station – needs: An outlet A table / surface to hold iPad while charging Your charging cord and block If your iPad needs to be charged during the school day, there are charging stations available in core teachers’ classrooms and the media center Should be RARE occasions only

What games and apps can I install? Students will ONLY install apps at school, when instructed to do so by a teacher Apps may not be installed at home School-related apps only FOR NOW Your team MAY at some point earn the privilege of installing a few entertainment apps by following iPad expectations at school Teachers will tell you when you’ve earned the privilege—NOT YET! ONLY teacher-approved entertainment apps, all installed at school ONLY if whole team has been following expectations

What happens if I install an app while I’m not at school? Your iPad’s storage may get too full Teachers will notice at your next iPad Check Non-school apps will be deleted You may lose the privilege of having access to the App Store

What if my iPad breaks or gets lost? If you misplace your ipad and cannot find it = $50 If damage is intentional = $25 first time If damage is accidental = first time is free * One freebie per school year If it breaks a second time = $25 If it breaks a third time = $50 If it breaks a fourth time = $300

What else do I need for my iPad? Earbuds or headphones—keep at school! Nothing else is required, but some OPTIONAL items you can bring: Stylus for handwriting on iPad Bluetooth keyboard iPad Case – you can buy a different case if you want, but it must be approved by the media specialist or a teacher Case must protect the CORNERS of the tablet Keep your receipt – if your new case does not get approved, you may have to return it

Middle School iPad Restrictions Social Media apps are not allowed Websites for social media are blocked iMessage and FaceTime are disabled Email is restricted to CPS-email only Can only send and receive emails from CPS staff or students Apple ID passwords can only be changed by parents / guardians IF they change it, school MUST be notified.

iCare Never leave your iPad unsecured—lock it up! Never loan your iPad to someone else, not even a family member. Absolutely no food or drinks near iPad Never set iPads on the floor—always use a table or bag. Grip iPads while walking

What’s an “iPad Check”? Any adult at school can ask to see your iPad at any moment Student should immediately hand their iPad to the adult WITHOUT arguing Adult will glance at apps, pics, email, etc. Purpose is to confirm that iPad is being used appropriately

iUsage “Down and Dark” – iPad is off and placed on desk, screen facing down “Parking Lot” – iPad is moved to a safe area away from student “Secure your iPad” – turn off iPad and put in your string bag “Screen Check” – everyone hold up your iPad screen so teacher can see it
