My background  Attended Cascade High School (go class of 2001!)  Everett CC (AA)  Western (BA in English and Teaching Certification)  UW Bothell (Master’s in Ed ~ literacy focus)  9 th year full-time teaching at JHS (student taught here as well!)  Completed my Pro-Teach certification two years ago  I have been to AVID summer trainings and the AP summer institute multiple times  I LOVE DISNEY!

SpringBoard  District adopted English curriculum 6-12  Pathway to AP / College Readiness  Aligned to National ‘Common Core Standards’  ‘Consumable’ Student Workbooks  Students will be registering for online access (‘consumable’ materials available)

Class Materials to look for…  SpringBoard Student Workbook (sometimes)  Composition Book – Writer’s Notebook (WNB)  Vocabulary worksheet  Independent Novels  Mugshot sentences and paragraphs

Additional Materials Needed Pencils/Pens Paper Highlighters Post-It / Sticky Notes …we want students to be interactive with their SpringBoard workbooks and all reading materials.

Grading 10% Formative o Daily class work / Class Activities o Homework 70% Summative o Embedded Assessments (essays / writing, projects, and/or presentations) o Unit Tests 20% Final Exam
