I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in English Language Arts Education ( War Eagle!!! ). I was a Majorette for Auburn University.
I got married over the Summer! I used to be Ms. Hayes, but now my name is Mrs. Green!
This is my 5 th year teaching at Thompson High School. I’m in graduate school at the University of Montevallo. I’m getting my degree in School Counseling. I love music, teaching, reading, traveling, pictures, and my kids!
We READ something every day! We WRITE something every day! We LEARN something every day! We have FUN! We will read three novels (To Kill A Mockingbird, The Secret Life of Bees, & Anthem). We will read Romeo & Juliet. We will read some poems and short stories with each unit. We will write a research paper! We will read the Odyssey.
You will take a unit test at the end of each unit we cover (short stories, novels, plays, poetry, etc). You will take an end of the semester exam in December and May. You will have an assessment after the 1 st and 3 rd Nine Week semesters.
One 1 ½” three ring binder (with college ruled notebook paper) or a large spiral notebook (with perforated college ruled paper) Composition notebook The text that we are reading (if not provided in class) A working writing utensil (pen or pencil) Flash drive (to save your writing assignments this year) Large manila envelope (for research papers) A copy of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (1 st semester) A copy of The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (1 st semester) A copy of Anthem by Ayn Rand (2 nd semester)

Depending on what you did….the first time is usually a warning The second time I will probably or call Mom/Dad/Guardian The third time I will write you up and you will get to go visit Mrs. McKnight If the first offense is a major offense, I will write you up and you will get to go visit Mrs. McKnight.
