March 8, 2006Exp. Area Meeting - E. Thomas1 Oxygen Deficiency Hazards Detection System in UX85 Two risks – Two systems 1.Top : He leaks 2.Bottom : CF4 leaks (~100 m3 in RICH2)

March 8, 2006Exp. Area Meeting - E. Thomas2 Specs & configuration The design parameters should be compliant to the existing ODH system implemented in the tunnel. Configuration He 3 02 sensors at the top of the cavern 6 flash lights + 6 signs indication the meaning of the alarm. CF4 2 O2 sensors on the ground of the bunker (close to entrance) 2 Flash Lights + 2 signs, one at each entrance of the bunker. Behavior (as in the tunnel) 1 02 sensor below threshold: Flash light activated + alert to fire brigade 2 O2 sensors below threshold: evacuation alarm triggered.

March 8, 2006Exp. Area Meeting - E. Thomas3 O2 Sensor and Flash Lights Locations O2 sensors Flash Lights Note: positions are indicative only. They were defined following a cavern tour by David H., Gunnar L., Daniel L., E.T and discussions with Rolf L.
