Katie has an uncle who is always boisterous worked in a poultry hatchery in Georgia. He helped Katie ’ s father get a work in the hatchery and helped them move into a small apartment where other Japanese families live. Then they began a long struggle toward saving money to buy a house of their own. However, the working situation at the hatchery were almost intolerable, even their children was prejudiced at school, but the small community of Japanese families helped each in their daily lives. Katie ’ s parents worked double shifts, so Lynn had to take care of her younger sister and brother. Katie was really liked and adored her sister. Then they began a long struggle toward saving money to buy a house of their own. However, the working situation at the hatchery were almost intolerable, even their children was prejudiced at school, but the small community of Japanese families helped each in their daily lives. Katie ’ s parents worked double shifts, so Lynn had to take care of her younger sister and brother. Katie was really liked and adored her sister.
