Theories of communication Ch:3 Theories of communication

Introduction:- Management researchers have been studying the communication theory from a long time to help us improve our methods of communicating effectively with each other. This research helps us send and receive the message in its original form. Some of the imporatant theories are as follows:-

(1). Sender’s theory of communication Acc to aristotle, 3 components of communication process are:- receiver message Demerit:- It can only be used for oral messages Merit:- It is simple

Channel theory of communication:- This theory is an extension of aristotle”s theory. Components of this theory are:- Sender Message Channel Receiver Effect

(3). Information theory of communication (Shanon theory of communication) Transmitter Receiver Destination Message Signal Received Message Noise source

(4). Interaction Theory of communication:-(Ping Pong theory,Interpersonal, circular) Beginning Sender, transmitter or communicator Encoding Channel Medium Receiver Decoding Action Feedback

(5) Transaction theory of communication:- Message Feedback Message Feedback

(6). Perception theory of communication:- In this theory , Berlo suggested that based on his skills and experience, the sender encodes the message and transmits the same through any of the 5 senses. How the message is received, solely depends upon the receiver and his knowledge level.

(7). Modern theory of communication:- Input Channel Message Output Feedback Brain drain

“closing the loop” of communication :- The proper feedback of information fronm receiver to sender is called closing loop of communication. “Brain drain”:- A break down in the communication cycle
