Symbol Overview => Terminal => beginning, ending, or interruption of flowchart; used to indicate information entering or leaving system => Manual Input => the operator/ user is prompted for information that must be manually input into a system => Magnetic Disk => data storage location; a database => Document => paper documents and reports of all types => Computer Processing => a computer- performed processing function; usually results in a change in data or information

Page 6 Inspection Process Two Main Sites: Inspection Station Warehouse or Shipping Location

Inspector begins process by examining products at the inspection station. After inspection, the inspector enters the results of the inspection into a file. A notice of rejected orders is printed from the updated file and the rejected orders are either returned to production floor for re-work or returned to the inspector for closer examination.

The updated file is then entered into a database, permanently, under an open production entry. The database updates files and prints a status report for the operator.

At the warehouse or shipping floor a final move ticket is entered into the database with the open production file. Our production file is now complete with regards to the products final movement as well as product inspection.

The finished goods and work in process inventory is now updated and information is returned to the main file to be transferred on to the next step.

Three processes begin once the file has been inspected, updated with regards to inventory status, and final move decisions have been made. First – the open production order entry is completed and closed. Second – a report of completed production orders is sent to production planning Third – a journal voucher is sent to accounting Finished Goods Inventory WIP Inventory $$$

Possible Inspection Controls Backup procedures for database entries Disaster recovery plan Training programs Review product inspection parameters Encryption of data Use of bar code technology Periodic reconciliation of records with physical counts
