Wheels on Anything - Design Process Summary Mike DeLancey, Emily Evanchak, Kenan Sindi, Molly Streiff Problem Statement: The goal of this design project was to create a portable wheeled product that can be used to move large objects. This product would have to be adjustable to accommodate any size object. It would also need to be user friendly so anyone could use it. The design would allow for all types of movement in all directions to ease the moving process. We also aim to make a design that is very strong and durable, so it can last a long time and not need to be replaced repeatedly, thus making the product better for the environment. We also want to design a feature to assist in getting heavy objects up onto the wheels. The Design: The final of this project can be divided into three parts. The base utilizes a diamond design that can be adjusted with different size supports to accommodate different sized objects. A smaller support would make the base long in width and short in height whereas a larger support would make the base short in length but tall in height. The wheels used on the product are similar to the wheels used on shopping carts and office chairs, but they are bigger and stronger to hold more weight. The wheels swivel so they allow smooth movement in all directions. The product also comes with a ramp made of cylindrical tubes to allow the objects to roll onto the platform and ease the lifting process for the consumer.
