THE BROKEN COPYRIGHT LAW By: Erica Sophie Period: 7 Grade: 9

WHAT LAW WAS BROKEN? The Copyright Law has been broken in this case.

AGE OF TEENAGER: The teenager that broke the Copyright Law is 16 years of age.

AMOUNT OF DATA DOWNLOADED: This teenager has downloaded 5 gigabytes of data (1,000 songs).

TYPE OF DATA DOWNLOADED: This teenager has downloaded 5G of music.

MAXIMUM MONETARY PENALTY THE TEENAGER COULD BE FORCED TO PAY: This 16 year old teenager can be forced to pay $3 million.

MAXIMUM JAIL PENALTY TEENAGER CAN BE FORCED TO SERVE: The teenager can be forced to serve as high as 5 years in prison for downloading 1,000 songs (5G, $3 million worth).

WHAT LESSON HAS THIS TAUGHT THOSE WHO KNOW THE TEENAGER? It taught them to never illegally download anything unless you have permission because you could be forced to pay tons of money or serve lots of years in jail.
