IB ART YEAR 1 EXAM PROJECT “Unusual Canvas”

Project Idea You will choose an object to use as a canvas. There must be a link between your object and what you choose to paint onto it. –Use the object’s shape or purpose to inspire an idea for the image.

Tasks Step 1: Select one of the following artists Step 2: Research the artist. Respond to the information you find. Critique at least one of their pieces. –Name –Place –Dates –Training –Ideas –Methods –etc

Tasks Step 3: Brainstorm possible objects and ideas. Step 4: Find and bring the selected object. Step 5: Complete at least 3 thumbnail sketches.

Tasks Step 6: Complete any other development you feel necessary for greatest success: –topic research, source imagery, material studies, colour mixing samples, more detailed sketch, etc Step 7: Create your image Step 8: Reflect throughout (take photos along the way) and at the end of the process
