GEORGIA Common Core Standard MCC3.G.2 Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape. National Standards (NETS): 1.Technology Operations and Concepts Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. Students: d. transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies.

Partition Partitioning is dividing an object or set of objects into parts.

What is a “whole” fraction? All of it or the entire piece. It is not broken up.

What is a half? ½one-half 2 equal parts that make a whole ½ one half

What is a third of a fraction? 1/3 one-third

What is a fourth of a fraction? ¼ one fourth
