Presentation transcript:

During the week of November 10 we discussed 2 D shapes during math. We read a book about shapes around town and found shapes in buildings on our Smart board. We made shapes out of play dough. On November 17 we discussed how you can use two- dimensional shapes to draw things. As an example, we drew a tractor, following the instructions below. We used round objects to trace the wheels. Students had rulers available, but all chose to draw the lines without rulers. The following slides were available as a poster to assist students in drawing their tractor and most had adult guidance while drawing.

Drawing a Tractor

Start with a blank piece of paper and a pencil. We use the blue colour in the design to make it easier to see. Please do not colour things blue. At the end you can colour your tractor, as you like.

Draw two different size circles side by side to make wheels. The front wheels are smaller. Make the front wheel smaller.

Draw a circle inside each of the wheels. Now you have made some tires.

Connect the wheels with a straight line. This line will be the bottom of the body or chassis of the tractor.

Copy the lines below to create the body of your tractor.

Draw a much smaller circle in the middle of each wheel. Then draw lots of curved lines around the edge of each tire to make the tread.

Look at the picture above. Carefully copy all the lines drawn to make the windows and door. Add stripes to the hood too.

Now you can add the cylinder shaped exhaust pipe to the hood and colour your tractor.
