Status about Radioactive Components - ABT Group

Summary  General Context  Operational Criteria  Storage buildings affected by the ABT group  Status about RC / Building  Next Steps F.CASTRONUOVO 2 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

General Context Due to the many accelerators and the range of their ages:  Storage of numerous radioactive components (RC)  Decrease of the available space in the CERN Storages  Preparation for LS2 Shutdown An evaluation of the present situation was necessary at the sector level  All the «technical» departments and RP group are involved  Rationalise what is stored versus released from the storages  Legal aspect: each RC has to be traced! F.CASTRONUOVO 3 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Operational Criteria  RC is in operation, its spare is defined with the acronym  OPS  The spare is not 100% operational  OPS_RH  RC is not in operation then the RC is defined with the acronym  RU  The RC stored is not 100 % reusable  RU_RH  RC unknown  UNK  Machine, Qty in operation, Qty Spare, Turn Over, Project, Total Cost, Installation Time and Fabrication Time F.CASTRONUOVO 4 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Storage buildings affected by the ABT group  Buildings managed by GS*  (804?, 805?), 879, 954 & 955  Buildings known and used by ABT  B162, B169, B867, B868 (BA1), B869 (BA2), B873 (BA6),..?  Deficiencies encountered up to now *:  Some RC declared «non dangerous» are radioactive!  Some RC mixed between RC non radioactive & radioactive  Multi owners for the same location  Some RC stored not recorded in the GS’s database  Actions on going by GS + Owners in B879 and B955 (B954 is the next one)  Each «code Article» receives an TREC Number (CR-XXXXXX) F.CASTRONUOVO 5 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Status in B879 F.CASTRONUOVO 6 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Status in B955 F.CASTRONUOVO 7 72% SE - 28% FPS TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Status in B954 F.CASTRONUOVO 8 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Status in others Buildings  B151, B162, B169  SE has started and completed the Excel files with all the OP Criteria  B867, B868 (BA1), B869 (BA2), B873 (BA6), others(?)  The lists of the data are to be created F.CASTRONUOVO 9 TCM-ABT 8/9/2015

Next Steps  GS/IS/LS will call the owners  In case of doubt to stick the TREC Number  To record a RC which is found and not in the GS’s DB  NOTE: The owner has to prepare a TREC number before to pick the RC up  Complete all the OP criteria  Continue to list the RC + OP criteria for the buildings used by ABT TCM-ABT 8/9/2015F.CASTRONUOVO 10
