Plot Plot is the sequence of events that make up a story. Every plot is made up of a series of incidents that are related to one another.

Exposition This usually occurs at the beginning of a story. It’s the part that introduces the characters, setting, and basic situation.
Initiating Event The event introduces the central conflict. It is the first turning point for the protagonist. It sets the story in motion.
Rising Action This is the bulk of the story and the biggest section of the plot structure. It includes all of the events that build suspense and lead to the climax.
Climax This part is the highest point of interest in the story. It is the most exciting because the conflict is resolved here.
Falling Action All loose ends of the plot are tied up. The remaining conflicts are resolved.
Resolution This part consists of the final events that end a work of fiction.
