Outline  Introduction and background situation  Basic theory of Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control System  Cost  Conclusion

Introduction In each year traffic accident 200 people are killed and people injured Cost HKSAR about 30 million dollars

- 95% accident is due by driver error Introduction - What kinds of driver errors ?

Situation  Most problem are too close and wrong turn  How to solve it ? Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control System

 Two or more vehicles to communicate and work together to avoid a collision.  Transmitting information about its speed and acceleration to the car behind it.

3 Main Components 1. Radar Based System -Report on the width, distance, and speed of objects ahead. 2. Headway Control Unit - Control the Brake, Throttle, Dashboard display. 3. Image-Processor - Combines the data, feeding it to the headway control unit that controls the car

Basic theory  The Cars communicate with one another by exchanging radio signals.  It will then work out a safe following distance on the basis of their actual performance characteristics.
