Learning Intention We are learning to utilize effective coaching skills in order to have a learning focused conversation in order to promote equity in all math classrooms. 2

Success Criteria We will know we are successful when we can accurately identify and use effective coaching questions. 3

Stances Consulting Stance- supplies information, provides advice for next steps, provides the why, what, and how, of thinking. Collaboration Stance- shared idea development and strategies for next steps (co-development) Coaching Stance- guides and supports idea generation from the teacher Mentoring Matters pp

Activity 1 As you reflect on the questions developed in January, which questions were written from a coaching stance? With your table group identify the questions that remained in a coaching stance. Record your thinking on the template. 5
