“How To Keep Your Passion Alive” Sept. 7 th, 2008

“Could you reach deep in yourself to locate that organ containing delusions about your general size in the world – could you lay hold of this and dredge it from your chest and look it over in daylight – well, it’s no wonder people would rather not.” -Leif Enger, Peace Like a River

Artist= refers to anyone who performs, creates, produces, or enjoys anything artistic.Artist= refers to anyone who performs, creates, produces, or enjoys anything artistic. Definition = traditionally the term art was used to refer to any skill or mastery, a concept which altered during the Romantic period, when art came to be seen as “a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science.” Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas.Definition = traditionally the term art was used to refer to any skill or mastery, a concept which altered during the Romantic period, when art came to be seen as “a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science.” Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas.

Whether you acknowledge it or not there is creativity in the things you do... There is a sense of passion... And where there is passion there is art! Where there is art, there is God!

The power of passion Passionate people seem to have meaning and purpose People want to be around them because of their zest for life “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) Gal. 5:24 “...crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.” Deut. 6:5 Holy & wholesome passion Psalm 42:1-2 Philippians 3:8

PASSION KILLERS Bogged down by the same old routine Bogged down by the pressures of life Bogged down by perfectionism: –Winston Churchill – “Now don’t go out and imagine you are going to paint a masterpiece, because you won’t. Go out and paint for the fun and enjoyment of it.” –Is being an artist fun for you?

HOW TO SUSTAIN PASSION Live the adventure God has planned for you to live. –Vision –Enthusiasm –Creativity –Emotion

Questions to ponder: –If you could do anything you wanted with your life, what would you choose to do? –What would be the ideal job for you? –If you could have any special talent of ability, what would you choose? –What would you do with a million dollars? –If you had unlimited resources and power, how would you impact the world? HOW TO SUSTAIN PASSION
