Goal My goal for the 8 th grade project is to build two baseball bats that I would be able to use.
Researching I needed to research the type of bats I wanted. The three main choices: birch, ash and maple.
Researching Cont. Ash- softer wood, wood flexes, flakes Maple- doesn’t flake, doesn’t flex, hard wood Birch- flexes more than maple, more durable than ash
Buying the Wood I bought my wood from I bought one birch billet and one ash billet. Birch Wood Ash Wood
Researching Needed to find the dimensions for the bats. From I got the needed diameters for a 32 inch bat.

Planning Measured out bat in increments of 4 inches. Marked each 4 inches with diameter. Me measuring and pointing out increments with diameters.
Next Steps Practice on smaller scale version of bat. Start cutting my bat.

Conclusion Only problem is with a lathe. On schedule to finish both bats by May.
