Metamorphic Rocks  A rock that is subjected to heat and pressure.  They may be formed simply by being deep beneath the Earth's surface.  Being formed they are subjected to high temperatures and the great pressure of the rock layers above it.  Some examples of metamorphic rocks are gneiss, slate, marble, schist, and quartzite.  There also are two types, Foliated and Non foliated.

forms when magma (molten rock) cools and solidifies. The solidification process may or may not involve crystallization, and it may take place either below the Earth's surface to generate "intrusive" rocks or on the surface to produce "extrusive" rocks.

 Intrusive rocks are formed inside of the earth.  Examples include Granite.

 Extrusive rocks Are formed on the earth’s surface.  Examples include Pumice, Obsidian, and Basalt.

 These rocks are a type of rock that is formed by sedimentation of material at the Earths surface and within bodies of water.  Particles that form a sedimentary rock by accumulating are called sediment.  Before being deposited, sediment was formed by weathering and erosion in a source area.

 Rocks are formed in several type of ways.  For example metamorphic is formed by the process of heat and pressure.  Sedimentary Rocks are formed through the process of weathering and erosion.  Not last but least igneous rocks are formed through Underground, they are formed when the melted rock, called magma, deep within the earth becomes trapped, they also are formed as the lava cools above ground.
