Wikipedia is a free multicultural encyclopaedia on the internet It was made so that people could find information about a subject quick and easily The purpose was that by creating an encyclopaedia on the internet people may be able to edit and add more information about a chosen subject making Wikipedia the largest encyclopaedia in the world and for free.

The creators The site was launched in 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger

How is it funded? Wikipedia is funded from donations from the public. These donations help pay the monitors, and all cost and fees it gets along the way. It is important that Wikipedia is constantly funded to keep it up and running, so they advertise for funding on their website.
