The Flying Dutchman and Other Ghost Ships What scares you more not knowing or finding the dead?

The Flying Dutchman A ghost ship dates back to 1794 when Capt’n Bernard Fokke, who was famous for quick trips to the West Indies disappeared Ship is said to have appeared even into the 21st century Witnesses include famous Capt’ns like John Paul Jones the hero of the American navy, King George V of England and even President John F Kennedy In 19th and 20th century said to have a glow and precede ominous happenings such as hurricanes and large waves

Marie Celeste and Others Marie Celeste left NY city in 1872, 1 mos. Later found by Del Gratia floating off coast of Azores, few torn sails and a missing lifeboat, nothing else missing, except for 9 barrels of medical alcohol that were empty, full food and fresh water on board, no crew or family https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUSzRii wAGc Carroll A. Deering 1921, reported to be in rough shape, claiming to have lost both anchors, ran aground off of N.C. with no crew aboard The Octavius, the capt’n tried to speed home through the Northwest Passage in Canada in 1762, not seen again until 1775 when whaling ships found it frozen in the ice, The crew where on deck and the captain was still sitting at his desk with the log dated 1762

Explanations The Flying Dutchman some say is an optical illusion, a mirage or a thought projection with fear of storm Others say it follows the legend because twice after being spotted letters were found in the water of missing sailors The Marie Celeste could have been caught in a storm and the lifeboat lost, because of the medical alcohol The men from the Deering may have tried to swim to shore in a storm because of the loss of anchors The Octavius was listed a lost and was never salvaed
