What is Self-Knowledge? Self-knowledge consists of 5 different areas: 1. Self-awareness 2. Mood Management 3. Self-motivation 4. Impulse Control 5. People Skills

Self-Awareness  Self-awareness consists of becoming aware of gut feelings.  Also includes an ability to recognize feelings as they happen, and remaining alert to those feelings.  These give us the confidence to make healthy emotional decisions.

Mood Management  Realizing that you, and other people change moods frequently.  We have ways of refraining from being angry, different anger-management strategies are commonly used.

Self-motivation  We realize that motivation is the key to success.  Setting clear goals and believing that they are achievable.  Combine enthusiasm, confidence and determination to help achieve goals.

Impulse Control  Able to self-regulate emotions.  Delay of immediate pleasure, or satisfaction for a better or more fulfilling reward later.  The ability to handle distressing feelings. Staying positive under pressure helps individuals become flexible, adaptable and conscientious.
