Writing the Essay!! Section C of the Exam Paper…

What makes a good essay? Answers the question!! Read it thoroughly! A good essay presents a clear argument that uses supporting examples. A good essay considers the similarities and differences between the factors being discussed. A good essay has an Introduction, a main body and a conclusion…..

The Introduction… Should establish and identify what you are going to talk about! This should include how physical setting can reflect and emphasise the mood, atmosphere, themes of the piece, character, time period or the style of dance in the choreography.

The Main body of the Essay! You should make a point about how the physical setting can contribute to the dance piece. Then give an example of a work that you have studied that supports this point. This should include the title of the work and the name of the choreographer. Describe the type of physical setting that is used in the work and how the physical setting contributes to the piece.

Conclusion Consolidate the points you have made. Discuss how successful you think that the use of physical setting is in Birdsong. You can also discuss how successful you Think the other works that you have mentioned use physical setting in their piece.
