The title of this story is expressive for the whole of it. From the title we can guess that we should sometime and somehow use force to solve our extreme serious problems that we couldn’t solve with kindness.
The Use of Force is about a spoiled young girl who may have Diphtheria. Her panic parent asked the doctor to come and check her. Therefore, the doctor asked her with too much kindness to open her mouth to let him look at her throat but the little child showed no movement. After several failed attempts, he expressed his anger because of the child`s savageness and the irresponsible and ignoble parents who didn’t want to force their child. He truly did want to help out the poor, ignorant, and suffering girl from the sickness she was hiding. the doctor,s determination to find out the problem, resulted him to use some force. In the end, the doctor succeeded and open the little brat `s mouth with much struggle, emotional and physical one. It turned out she had the disease.
: The main characters like in most stories reflect real issues comparable in real life and they are 1.The young girl who shows conflict between her personality and role as a patient. This is revealed by the fact that she is rebellious and spoiled.She is the reason for the instability in the story since she is not willing to cooperated. Since her parents hold no strong restraints, it encourages the girl to behave badly. The daughter, Mathilda, is somewhat dynamic as she changes from stubborn and defiant to broken, betrayed and angry. (last paragraph ). 2. The doctor who shows more frustration because of the several failed attempts to check the girl 's throat. He was pissed of the child's aggressiveness. He is the most dynamic character as, through his radical changes of his attitudes. At first the doctor tries kindness with the daughter then he tries scaring the girl, eventually resorts to force..

The writer used narration and this implies the severity of a situation when social roles and personal impulses intertwine.. There is also the irony that the parents keep telling Mathilda what a nice man the doctor is.. The author uses the persona of the doctor to reveal a dilemma when a serious issue is confronted
