To Infinity and Beyond How many types of galaxies are there? What are the three shapes of galaxies? What are the three things that make up a galaxy?

What are the three different shapes of galaxies? Spiral Galaxy Elliptical Galaxy Irregular Galaxy

Spiral Galaxies Have spiral or curved arms. The arms curve around the center. Have a definite star pattern. The Milky Way and Andromeda are spiral galaxies.

Elliptical Galaxies Shaped like an oval. Have a definite star pattern. Many stars can be seen around their edges. They look like spirals without arms.

Irregular Galaxies No definite star pattern. They have many different shapes. They are not very common. The two Clouds of Magellan are irregular galaxies.
