What are the benefits of home water purifiers? Is it a common strategy in our region? Alessio M. Classe IV A Istituto tecnico agrario G.Garibaldi Saving water & energy by using home water purifiers

Healthy drinking water One of the chief benefits of water purifiers is that they produce water that is healthy and beneficial for you. The waste product of synthetic chemicals is often discarded in various water reservoirs, tanks and lakes. This infected water ends up entering our water supply. Using bottled water is not the perfect solution, as it often contains the same unhygienic water and buying many bottles every day is expensive. Water purifiers ensure that the water you pour into your glass is free from all pollutants and toxic substances. Alessio M. I.I.S G. Garibladi Macerata IV A

Convenience Another advantage of water purifiers is that they are convenient to use. If you have a water purifier installed in your house, you do not need to spend hours dragging around big bottles of water from the store, as a water filter allows you to drink hygienic and safe water just by running the kitchen tap. In addition, if you install a water purifier, it will be much cheaper than buying bottled water every day. Alessio M. I.I.S G. Garibladi Macerata IV A

Low consumption of plastic bottles For the bottling of mineral water each year 350,000 tons of plastic are used corresponding to 665,000 tons of oil with an emission of 910,000 tons of CO2. Only a small percentage of the bottled water is distributed in glass bottles. Even during transport and distribution of bottled water has an impact on the environment, in fact, only 18% of water bottles are traveling by rail, the rest traveling by road and often crosses the whole of Italy. Is also to be considered the fact that the bottles should then be disposed of and only a third ends up in the waste collection. Alessio M. I.I.S G. Garibladi Macerata IV A

Reduce pollution Environmental pollution due to trucks carrying water, water purifiers are a viable solution to this problem. Alessio M. I.I.S G. Garibladi Macerata IV A

Water purifier in our region In recent years the use of domestic water treatment systems is constantly increasing, both for the greater sensitivity of citizens in saving campaigns energy for both practical and economic needs of families. Specifically, there are no official data about the Marche region, but it is known that a number of citizens' associations organized within buying groups in solidarity have steps to purchase and plant these sitemi purification. Alessio M. I.I.S G. Garibladi Macerata IV A

Concluding Remarks In a few years, Italians have become the biggest consumers of bottled water in the world. 46 per cent of Italians never drink from the tap, the average expenditure per family reaches 260 EUR. The world market for mineral water covers the annual 45 million euros, which correspond to an average of 15 liters per person annually drunk. In the European Union in 2000 were consumed billion of liters of mineral water, in European countries outside the EU only Because water is becoming an increasingly precious resource, the use of household cleaning might be a viable solution to dramatically reduce the consumption of so-called "blue gold."
