Developing good work and study habits in the middle school Mr. Johnston Saigon South International School

Why is middle school so important?  Middle school skills are easy to change, high school ones are not  Students that have good work habits in the middle school, will see them transfer over to high school (article)

What you can do to improve your work habits in school :  Come to class with your binder, materials.  Wear a watch  Ask questions!  Come see the teacher if you don’t understand. (Testimony: Katrien)

Coming in for help testimony:  “I came in for help with Math and because I did, I understood the next lesson so much better.”  Katrien Grade 7, Saigon South International School

What you can do to improve your work habits at home :  After completing your homework, put it in your bag by the door  Don’t study while IM, chatting, watching T.V.  Check “Edline” and “Moodle” for due dates, grades

What you can do to improve your work habits in your own mind :  Make goals for yourself to improve.  Tell yourself: “I can do better!” and make a plan to meet your goal.  Go above and beyond what is expected.  Think of learning not as a duty, but the opportunity to learn –Al Einstein

The End  Questions?  Check out PBS “It’s my life” for topics on Middle School Life
