Bodies of water Body of water - the part of the earth's surface covered with water (such as a river or lake or ocean) Examples of bodies of water in P.R Rivers, estuaries, lagoons, reservoirs, and hot springs. Did you know that three-fourths of the surface of the planet is covered with water? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNWuQD7QHBc Water plays and important role in processes that occur on earth. Water moves around the planet in a process known as the water cycle . Water cycle is a circular process because begins and ends in the same place.
Hydrography What is hydrography? Name examples of places its studies. Science that studies the planet’s bodies of water. Oceans, seas, rivers, lagoons. What are endemic species? Why is water conservation so important to them? Endemic species are species only found in P.R. We have to protect the water because they can not live anywhere else. Mention some uses given to water. Water is also used in Puerto Rico for many industries and is even use to produce electricity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFQ1IpkW81Y
Rivers of P.R 1. What is a river? River- is a continuous stream of water that flow into another body of water. 2. What are drainage basins? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-b1nM0RbOs An area of land where all precipitation that falls will flow downhill into a specific stream. Reservoirs What are reservoirs? Artificial lakes Why did people made reservoirs? in order to store water during the dry season. Where are they built? Why? Built in mountains in order collect water from rivers and turn it into drinking water. Many reservoirs are part of hydroelectric systems. What is a hydroelectric system? Use the force of water to drive generators and produce electricity. Name the most important reservoirs in P.R? Carite in Guayama, Carraizo in Caguas, La Plata, in Toa Baja. http://www.local10.com/news/drought- causes-major-headache-for-residents-of-puerto-rico/34926008
