Students will learn and understand how to create original and complex characters by analyzing famous literary characters (such as Dracula) and examine what makes them ‘complete’. Students will also learn the different archetypes of characters used in literature and will implement them in their own writings. by: Completing the Character Development chart which allows students to ‘build’ an original literary character which will be used in a co-authored short story. During direct instruction, we will start writing our own SAT essays, primarily the introductory paragraph. *handout will be provided. Literary Element #3—Form Download the PDF packet from the SAT Prep class website. Today we will examine SAT selections focused on prose, poetry, and drama. Collaborative Station: Wednesday 4/17 Vocabulary Story Development You may work with a partner or on your own. This exercise will allow you to work out those creative writing muscles. With a partner, write a story using the ten vocabulary words. Just in case you were wondering, yes— your story has to make sense.
