Special Intentions and Prayer

Where do we find truth? Scripture – the written account of God’s Revelation and his relationship with people. It is God’s word written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Bible.

How does truth impact our lives? Tradition – the Revelation of the good news of Jesus Christ as lived out in the Church, past and present. It includes the teachings and practices handed on from the time of Jesus through his Apostles to the whole Church. It is the source of the Church’s ongoing understanding of the meaning of Revelation and the ways to apply it to our lives.

Parts of Tradition  The teachings, customs, and practices handed down from Jesus through the Apostles, whether by word of mouth or in writing. Example??  The creeds, the statements of beliefs that we profess as Catholics. Example??  The teachings of the pope with the bishops of the Church, through their gatherings at councils and through their documents and other communications. Example??  The teachings of the Church Fathers, scholars, who helped to explain and hand on the Christian messages. Example??  The life and experience of the Church as she gathers together to worship God, celebrate the sacraments and listening to God’s word. Example??

Exit Slip  Take everything off your desk, except for a pen or pencil.  Quiz Time!

Have a Good Day
