In Chapter 6 Alai models an unbiased side through the fact that being Bernards best friend he still treats ender with respect. He is not a follower of Bernard. Interpret how Ender and Alai figured out the effects of the freeze guns. Evaluate how the encounter with the Giant affects Ender. “Alai was the Bridge” that entered the division between “Bernard’s in-group and Ender’s outcasts” (Card 62). Ender and Alai experiences the uses of the freeze guns by shooting each other in the foot. “Let’s shoot each other… They did. Immediately Ender felt the leg of the suite grow stiff, immobile at the knee and ankle joints” (Card 60). After playing Free Play, Ender accidentally kills the Giant, making him feel like Peter. “I’m a murderer, even when I play. Peter would be proud of me” (Card 65).
