DEEP STOPS PYLE STOPS

Deep Stops Sometimes called Pyle Stops Found by accident by Richard Pyle Don’t only have to be for Tech diving, recreational divers can also do them May help you feel less tired after dive Can be calculated at any depth during dive

30m 5m 3 mins What PADI Teaches You

30m 5m 3 mins Dive with Pyle Stops PADI dive Pyle found that when he stopped to collect fish at depth he felt less tired than when he found no fish and went directly to the safety stop

How to calculate a stop Take the maximum depth Take the depth of your first deco stop (this will be your safety stop for recreational) Find the midway point between the two Stop at this depth for 1 or 2 mins Calculate the midway point between this depth and your compulsory deco stop Continue until you are less than 10m from your stop

30m First stop = 5m Maximum depth = 30m Difference = 30 – 5 = 25m Halve it = 12.5m So you must go up 12.5m from 30m 30m – 12.5m = 17.5m First stop = 18m

30m First stop = 5m Current depth = 18m Difference = 18 – 5 = 13 m Halve it = 6.5m So you must go up 6.5m from 18m 18m – 6.5m = 11.5 m First stop = 18m Second stop = 12 m

30m First stop = 5m Current depth = 12m Difference = 12 – 5 = 7 m which is less than 10 Go to 5m safety stop as normal First stop = 18m Second stop = 12 m

Some dive computers have the deep stop facility programmed in It tells you the depth but you can program the time Will also tell you the next deep stop depth Count down timer
