Electronic Prescribing Through SureScripts CS 265 Throy Austero

Project Proposal I have decided to research electronic prescriptions via the SuperScripts network. Electronic prescriptions have several benefits over hand written prescriptions; these benefits will be described in the next slide. The SuperScripts network is one of the nation’s most comprehensive health information networks with clinical, medication, and several other network services. The SuperScripts network allows continuous connected care between physicians and patients.

Benefits of E-Prescribing Reduced healthcare costs “…E-prescribing increases medication first fill adherence by 10% with the potential to save $140 - $240 billion over the next 10 years.” Improved patient safety Prescribers can check for harmful drug interactions. No errors due to physicians’ handwriting. Increased efficiency Prescribers can confirm prescription benefit information prior to sending an e-prescription

What is SureScripts? The nation’s largest e-prescribing network with over 500,000 prescribers and over 6 billion transactions completed per year. A network that enables the electronic exchange of a broad range of clinical health information between health care care organizations around the country.

Why SureScripts?
