Innovation in learning environment Library space should be appropriate for: group study (collaboration), discussion and or individual learning Collections and provision of material needed distributed library operations rather than concentrated Variation of users behaviour: researchers and students Library space should attract students; the trend is towards remote access, the library is being turning into a functional space rather than only a physical space.

Innovation in learning environment Physical space should be enriched with functional features: collections will be there for learning, but more and more library is becoming an agora, exhibitions, activities, social interaction, more noise than the normal library There is still a role for central library, Exchanges are taking place in the Labs for the Science In the Library for the Humanities Library 2.0 and the physical space of libraries, what is the relationship? Blogs in the libraries, collaboration with users Cooperation with architects and librarians and users There is still need for libraries to exist The need for collections, and for the management framework

The death of the book? Type dependent: linear and non linear reading Size dependent Screen dependent Books subjects dependent Generation dependent Printed Journals in science and medicine are already dead E-book slow penetration will eventually substitute for the real (paper) text books
