English 3 December 3 I can analyze how the argument in a contemporary cartoon relates to a work of literature written in I can analyze visual texts for their implicit arguments.

Journal (15 minutes) What argument is developed in The Fairly Oddparents, episode 6, “The Same Game”? Is the argument valid? Why or why not? What does your individuality mean to you? Answer Isaiah’s question from Monday: “What in the world does The Fairly Oddparents have to do with what we are doing in class?” Based on what you read in chapter 1 of Anthem, how might the two be related? At the end of the 15 minutes, discuss as a class.

Finish the analysis of visual 1, George Washington’s presidential portrait. You may work in groups of 2 or 3 for this activity and the following ones.

From Mr. Miller, choose one more picture/visual. Write the number of your visual above “Visual 2” on your worksheet. Complete the worksheet for that visual text. Turn in your worksheet to Mr. Miller when you finish.
