Mini-project 2 Theme based lesson :Thanksgiving Chrystal Vance Eun Jung Kim APLNG 410 Teaching American English Pronunciation

Lesson plan  Objectives:  Students will be familiar with Thanksgiving as an American tradition.  Students will do integrated tasks. (reading+listening+speaking+vocabulary+writing) ‏  Students will contribute to class discussions.  Focus on: ESL adult students at high intermediate level

Lesson procedure  Association activity: As an ice breaker, students are asked what Thanksgiving is associated with. It will help students to be aware of the topic and get them ready to go on to the main lesson smoothly.  Reading an article and watching a video clip  Reading an article and watching a video clip: To understand the history of Thanksgiving, students will complete the following activity for comprehension and key vocabulary check- up.  Writing: Students will free- write about Thanksgiving, i.e.) their first hand or secondhand experience. They will get more sensitive to a narrative genre by practicing past tense, time sequence, and transitions.
